F.A.Q
IS 90+ A SOCCER CLUB?
The short answer to the question is “NO”. We are not a soccer club, rather we are a sports-based, youth development (SBYD) organization that uses soccer to engage youth; connecting them to new relationships, on-and-off-the-field, that build character and create opportunities for leadership, healthy living & mental wellness. While it’s true that some parts of 90+ might look like a “club”, we pride ourselves in being a collective community of people who love the game of soccer. Our mission is very clear. We are committed to the growth of the whole athlete both on and off the field. 90+ is not a club, rather a community.
Is 90+ only for kids with low economic means?
We welcome children and families from all economic backgrounds. That being said, we were founded with the intention to bring equity and provide opportunity so all children can have access to the beautiful game.
Is 90+ faith based?
No. 90+ is a sports based youth development organization and a 501c3 non profit entity with no religious affiliation. We teach character, leadership and mental wellness which we believe leads to great community members and citizens.
HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT UPCOMING CAMPS, CLINICS AND FREE PROGRAMS?
We would suggest two things:
Check out 90plusproject.org/programs to get a full list.
Sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of the page. Our newsletter gives updates on programs and offers "codes" for signing up at reduced rates even below the normal sliding fee structure that is based on income.
How do I join a team?
To join a soccer team with 90+, follow these steps:
Recreational: Join a team
Click on the link and after you register you are all set. Your child will be placed on a team and you will be contacted by a 90+ staff member or coach as the season approaches.
Developmental: Apply
Fill out the application form with your name, age, and contact info, team your applying for, etc.
Look for a confirmation that confirms we received your application and then await further information.
A 90+ Staff Member or Coach will reach out to you and discuss if there is an available opening and the process for getting connected to the team.
Since there are no tryouts or cuts there is not always availability for a team. We work with each family to ensure they are a good fit for the project and team.
If accepted, complete the registration and attend any introductory meetings to learn about the team’s schedule and expectations.
DOES EVERY CHILD INVOLVED WITH 90+ QUALIFY FOR "FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH" OR IS ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED?
The focus of the 90+ Project is to provide mentoring along with character and leadership development to economically disadvantaged kids who do not have equal access to the game of soccer. While this is our focus not every child in the program fits this description. This is a philosophical decision based on several social factors the least of which is the importance of social integration of children that have access to resources with those who have limited access and the need to provide support networks for kids in our program.
